RADAR DETECTOR DIRECT WIRE POWER CORDFor 1997-2003 C5 Corvettes
1997-2003 Corvettes have a factory installed connecter under the dash in the passenger area that can be used to connect 12 volt accessories. Our radar detector direct wire power cord simply plugs into that connector, and provides a power cord that can easily be routed behind the interior panels to your radar detector, for the cleanest possible installation. The 10' cord can easily reach your preferred detector location, whether on the dash, windshield, mirror or visor.
Our power cord requires no soldering, fuse taps or splicing of any kind! It easily plugs into the under-dash connector in all 97-03 C5 Corvettes - convertible, coupe, FRC, Z06... It frees up the lighter socket, and stops that annoying coiled cord running down the dash. Our direct wire power cord has an easily replaceable, 2 amp mini fuse, and uses a two wire cord that is easier to fit behind interior panels than the common telephone type cord. The accessory connector power is "switched," meaning that your radar detector will automatically turn on when your turn your key on, and go off when you turn your car off. Installation is simple: Decide on your preferred mounting location. Starting at your radar detector, slide the power cord behind the interior panels down to the passenger footwell. Locate the correct accessory connector, and plug in the power cord. That's it. Our direct wire cord has a standard RJ-11 telephone type plug that works with the following radar detectors: Escort Passport models: 9500i, 9500ix, 8500 X50, 8500, 7500S, 7500, 6800, Solo S3, Solo S2 Beltronics models: STi Driver, STi Magnum, GX65, RX65, RX55, Vector 995, 965, 955, 940, 895, 795 In 2004, GM discontinued the factory installation of this accessory connector under the dash. Since it only takes a minute to verify that your Corvette has this connector, we recommend that you always check before purchasing this product. Simply remove the carpeted kick up panel at the front of the passenger footwell (flip open the latches if your panel has latches). Look to the upper left of the large aluminum box (BCM), and you should see the accessory connector visible above the blue and pink BCM connectors. The correct accessory connector is black plastic and has three wires - orange, yellow and black. |
